Being content with one's life!

I am a stay at home mother of two and I am currently homeschooling my four year old son. Staying at home has its joys. I get to spend time with the kids, the house is usually looking pretty good, I cook and do laundry, and lastly, I have the flexibility to cater to my husband and children. However, sometimes I wonder if it's all worth it. I could get a job and make double the income instead of budgeting our money consistently. We could take all the vacations we want and buy whatever we wanted. It takes me a second to remember that there is nothing more important than my family. I am also very grateful for what I have and remember that I grew up with much less than what I have now. Perhaps there is an advantage on having to budget our money. It allows me to focus on what is truly necessary in our home and keeps my spending habits under control. Not throwing our money away on too many material things but on the things that are necessary. Perhaps being content with what we have and who we are allows us to truly enjoy our lives and focus on what we need to grow spiritually in Christ. Thank God for what you do have and always remember that around the world there are people who would give anything to live where we live and have what we have.

  1. Do you plan on going to work after you're children reach regular school age or will you always home school?

  2. Yes and no. My husband is getting out the army soon to finish school and I will be working as a nurse 'till he's done. After that, the plan is for me to be a stay at home mom again. We have friends who home-school as well and we are hoping they will be able to watch him while i work, but my husband will be home most of the time with them, when he's not in class. I still plan on putting him in different activities and programs with school children that way they can socialize. We have looked into private school way in the future as well.
